County-wide Governments
Beyond having government entities for our local services, Arden Arcade receives a number of services that are delivered across the entire county. The pages below have details.
Under state law, there are certain kinds of services that are supposed to be uniform from place to place. Rather than having the state budget pay for those services directly, the state has assigned those services to counties - things like lower-level courts, jails, voter registration and elections, tax collection and welfare implementation. Our County Board of Supervisors have a pretty full plate providing such services.
But the County isn't the only governmental entity responsible for county-wide services. SMUD is a special district that delives electrical power across the county. And Sacramento Regional Transit is a joint-powers authority that provides public transit services. Similarly, the Sacramento Public Library is a joint-powers authority that provides library services.
