Schools, Parks and Public Facilities
Arden Arcade is blessed to have many excellent public facilities.
Our K-12 public schools are provided by the San Juan Unified School District. Alternative schools provided by the County Office of Education are Palmiter High (a special education school focused on emotional disturbance and behavioral programs) and Elinor Lincoln Hickey Jr./Sr. High (a County Community school), both at Ethan and Cottage. American River College on College Oak Drive is one of the campuses of the Los Rios Community College District, which is headquartered on Spanos Court in the Howe Avenue corridor.
Some of our parks are provided by independent special districts, with governing boards elected by the community they serve. These include:
- Arcade Creek Receration and Park District
- Arden Manor Recreation and Park District
- Arden Park Recreation and Park District
- Fulton-El Camino Recreation and Park District
Other parks are provided by Sacramento County. Sacramento County Regional Parks is responsible for the American River Parkway, arguably a world-class gem. The Mission Oaks Recreation and Park District is a dependent special district, with a governing board appointed by the County Supervisor who represents the County's Third District.
Arden Arcade is also fortunate to have two branches of the region's public library system: Arcade and Arden-Dimick.
